I hope everyone had a very Happy Halloween yesterday! Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday – so of course we had to do a family costume! I decided we should do a costume centered around our little one’s nickname: Junebug! Here we are in our buggy glory:
June’s costume was actually a baby Dragonfly costume I found online. My hubby donned his pj’s, robe, and some antenna and he was set with an easy bed bug costume! I wore a green hoodie that I drew stripes on with a green sharpie (for the worm’s furrows). I also attached some antenna onto the hood and carried a book with me to complete the costume. Here’s another photo of our happy Junebug!
For those of you wanting to DIY these costumes, the antennae are sooo easy to make. For the both the bed bug and bookworm, I took some pipe cleaners and hot-glued pom poms to one end. Bend the pipe cleaner slightly so that there’s a ledge for you to glue on to better attach the pom poms. For the bed bug, I then simply wrapped the bottom part of the pipe cleaners tightly to a headband (no need to glue – that way you can reuse the headband)! For the bookworm I measured how tall I wanted the antenna to be and then made a spiral with the excess portion of the pipe cleaner (see photo below). I hot-glued the spirals to the hoodie and that’s it! Easy-peasy! Gotta love a good DIY costume.
