With J’s second birthday right around the corner, I thought I would reminisce about her Little Golden Books birthday party! We celebrated at the event space in the library so the theme was quite appropriate. I decided on a pastel blue, pink, and gold (of course!) color palette.
I went to the local party store and bought pink and pastel blue tablecloth, paper plates, napkins, and cups. I also had a bunch of pink balloons blown up with a giant number 1 gold foil balloon. Instead of a cake, I did cupcakes with these adorable golden books edible cupcake toppers. I also couldn’t help myself and bought her a special little birthday onesie featuring the Poky Little Puppy!
As you can see from the little montage above, I made Little Golden Book placards for each of the food items. In case anyone wants to use this idea for a birthday party, below are all of my Photoshop-altered book covers for you to print (assuming you’ll go with the same/similar menu). Just print the image on half a sheet of card stock, fold, and voila! The menu included:
Three Little Pigs in a Blanket
The Fruit and Veggies of Peter Rabbit (fruit plates and veggie plates with dips)
The Little Red Hen Pasta (chicken pasta bake…and a cheese pasta bake too)
Tootle Tea (and other beverages too)
I brought a bunch of J’s toys for the kids to play with, let everyone nosh, we sang Happy Birthday, and finished with opening presents. All in all, I’d say the Little Golden Books birthday party was a hit! This year we’re just going to celebrate with family and take it easy. I’m sure I’ll buy some balloons and cake, but that’s really it. However, her little brother gets to celebrate the big #1 this summer!
